Do you know what you do all day with your back?
How is your posture when you sit infront of the computer?
when you get up out of the chair ….and when you sit back down again into the chair?
when you have to give a presentation?
when you are concentrating hard?
when you walk, or do a variety of activities, like lifting or bending down?
The general rule is that we do not know what our posture or our back is doing, because we do not see or feel our habits…they are our blind spots.
Studies have shown that over the long term, sitting with bad posture is just as harmful or more harmful than smoking.
We sit too much, especially infront of the computer and ‘bad sitting’ causes serious damage.
The damage comes form wrong use, or misuse, (and abuse) of the spine, joints and muscles. The misuse of any instrument causes damage to that instrument! It is very obvious really.
The question is: how can we learn to see and feel our bad postural habits, so that they are no longer in our ‘blind spot’? and even more importantly – how can we change these habits?
The answer is: with the Alexander Technique and with Re-Orientation Technique.
